After 3 years of practice as an associate dentist in both Ajax and Aurora, Ontario, Dr. Lori Lahti decided it was time to move closer to her hometown of Sudbury—while remaining within proximity to Toronto. When an opportunity to purchase in Parry Sound arose (located midway between the two cities), she knew it was the right fit and contacted Henry Schein Field Sales Consultant, Don Scott to begin planning for the office. "I have worked with Don previously and was always impressed by his ability to troubleshoot issues and give constructive input to solving any issues that would show up. Henry Schein's Interior Designer Odette Legere also worked with me, helping to turn my vision for the office into a reality."

The old facility's lack of operatories had created a constant impediment to patient care. Without staff or consultation rooms or private workspace for the Doctor and office manager, day-to-day activities were always stressful. There was no space to install a panoramic X-ray and limited parking was a constant inconvenience to patients. "We were quickly outgrowing the old clinic," explains Doctor Lahti. "We required more space to provide quality care to our patients; bring an associate onboard; and accommodate the increase in staff members."

A Kentucky Fried Chicken store had previously been in the building at the new location. It was essentially gutted, renovated, and added to in order to house the new practice. "It was exciting to see the change," comments Dr. Lahti. "The transformation to a beautiful, state-of-the-art practice was amazing. It was always my dream to build my own facility with a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere with the latest technologies and equipment so that my patients and staff would feel at home and at ease while there."

Dentistry on the Bay's reception area uses design elements that are contemporary and welcoming. The office's spacious open concept is evident when first entering the facility. The boldly modern reception desk creates a huge impact with its unique shape. Nearby, the waiting area beckons with soft, oversized leather seating, a warming fireplace, a big screen TV, and a play area for the kids. High ceilings increase the open feel of the interior and large windows bring in bright natural daylight while providing a view of the outdoors.
