Aspen Trails Dental is located in Sherwood Park, Alberta and celebrated its grand opening in June 2010—only a few weeks after Dr. MacDonald had graduated from dental school at the University of Alberta. The space for the office was found when the Doctor and his wife were walking around their neighborhood and just happened to stumble upon the location. Realizing its business potential in a neighborhood with many young families, they contacted the agent who was handling the property and learned that the space was available. Shortly afterward, the Doctor contacted Henry Schein Canada and began to make plans for his new office.

"We began work on Derek MacDonald's Clinic in early 2010 while Derek was busy completing his final year of dentistry at the University of Alberta," recalls Equipment Sales Specialist, Grey Knechtel. "First, the premises lease was executed and the services of Senior Designer Jennifer Assaly were secured for the space plan and interior design. Jennifer, myself, Field Sales Consultant Bev Fredsberg, and Derek and his wife Natalie met routinely on Tuesday evenings around Derek's kitchen table to finalize the floor plan; select equipment; and put all the finishing details in place."

"The Doctor originally opened with only two operatories but within 6 months a third was added, with a fourth this past January. This rapid expansion is clear evidence that Derek's practice is well on its way to success and it will only be a matter of time before his remaining two operatories are equipped," notes Field Sales Consultant Bob Piercy.
